Craft group

Our group continues to meet in Centre 70 on the first Monday of the month (except for Bank Holidays) when it is the second Monday, at 2.00 to 4.00pm winter months and 2.30 to 4.30pm summer months. We have plenty of room for, and would very much welcome, more members.  There’s always plenty of parking.  We charge a small subscription of £2 per month to cover the rent, tea/coffee and biscuits.  We currently have 18 members but want to welcome more. Do come and join us.

Our members are amazing and we love learning new crafts. Amongst other things, we have tried quilting, paper making and making greetings cards.  We also encourage our members to share their talents with us and are constantly having fun attempting new challenges.

We do not forget the important social side of our group and, for special events, like to have the odd afternoon tea.

Art and Painting Group

Our  group continues to tick along nicely.  It is an informal art group which meets at the back of the Red Lion in Brightwell cum Sotwell on the first Thursday of each month at 10am.  During the summer months we love the fresh air and, if the weather is fine, you will find us outside in the garden.  Our attendance varies at about eight or nine, although our membership is 13.  We value the social side of our group, enjoy the pub’s delicious coffee and members often stay for a delicious lunch afterwards.

New members are always welcome. There is plenty of parking. The X2 bus is a good way to travel as long as you can walk down from the High Street.

Antiques

We are an active group with good attendance at most meetings.

Our interests are many and varied which have included silver coins and medals, decorative glass, paintings and porcelain.  We have discussed how rarity, age and condition can have an effect on value.

Our group occasionally visits places of interest, particularly local Antiques Centres, museums and exhibitions, that are easily accessible.
