HomeUncategorizedFrom our Chairman – Paul Booker

If you are a new or prospective member of the Thameside Wallingford U3A – thank you for reaching thus far on our web site. If you are already a member – then welcome – your committee and I hope you find the site useful and easy to use. We hope you become a regular visitor.

When I became Chairman I set myself just a couple of goals. Time passes so quickly and its easy to be overtaken by events! Our U3A works extremely well and your committee members and Interest Group leaders do a sterling job. But whilst we have recently  found new members for the Outings and Talks committees, we still need a few more pairs of hands. We would also welcome help on our main management committee. The time commitment is not great and the work is fun and interesting. So, if you would like to know more please email me at chairman@wallingfordu3a.org

Secondly, it would be good to see our membership numbers continue to increase. New members bring new ideas and new interests. This is a useful place to point out that our Group Co ordinator, Maureen Lejeune welcomes ideas for new interest groups and she will provide all due assistance in setting them up. We are already looking at a possible Lunch Club, poetry reading and a First World War study group. If you have any more ideas, please let Maureen or me know.

I am also determined to visit as many of the current interest groups as I can and I’m looking forward to making contact this way with more of our members.

So – if you would like to learn more about helping our Outings or Talks committees, or perhaps our management committee please let me know, by email at Chairman@wallingfordu3a.org or chat to me at the coffee morning or Speaker meeting. If you have an idea for a new Interest Group, contact Maureen Lejeune.

Finally, if any members have ideas that they would like the committee to consider and take forward then I hope you will let me know, either by email at chairman@wallingfordu3a.org or directly at a meeting.

I look forward to keeping in touch,

Enjoy your Thameside University of the Third Age!

Paul
