HomeUncategorizedFrom our Chairman – Neil Kelly

Welcome to our website showing the type of activities we encourage and support.  We can only provide a brief synopsis of what we do and, therefore, we encourage prospective and new members to seek us out at either our monthly coffee mornings or one of our speaker meetings.  If you are already a member we hope you become a regular visitor to this website and to the groups and functions we enjoy organising for you.

Our membership numbers continue to increase, so we must be doing something right!. New members bring new ideas and new interests and help share the load of running the U3A. This is a useful place to point out that we welcome ideas for new interest groups and will provide all due assistance in setting them up. We have recently introduced two Lunch Clubs, a poetry reading group and we are looking at starting a Military History study group.  We also encourage a bit of physical activity and can offer badminton.

I took up my duties as Chairman of the Thameside Wallingford U3A in May of this year. It is a memorable year to be Chairman as it is our 20th Anniversary year of our group’s foundation in Wallingford.  We have to thank those members (some of whom continue to be members today) for their vision and energy in creating the beginnings of what has become an active and successful organisation.

In order to continue on our progress we need and welcome new members.  We hope some of you out there will consider offering your services, either in a casual way or, perhaps, as an Interest Group Co-ordinator or even consider becoming a committee member.  If you just want to join us and enjoy our friendliness and common interests, that is also more than fine.

Never hesitate to approach any of your committee members with suggestions and, maybe occasionally, constructive criticism.  You can contact me on  chairman@wallingfordu3a.org.

I look forward to meeting some of you sometime.

Enjoy your Thameside University of the Third Age!

Neil

On behalf of your committee
